FreightExchange shipping integration for NetSuite

NetSuite runs the business. FreightExchange handles the freight behind it, so orders leave the ERP and come back as booked consignments with rates, labels and tracking against them. This one connects through the FreightExchange API rather than a store plugin, so it is scoped with our team rather than installed from a marketplace.

Stop rekeying orders into a carrier portal.

The usual NetSuite freight workflow is somebody reading a sales order on one screen and typing it into a carrier portal on another. That is where the wrong address, the wrong service and the missing dimension come from, and it is invisible until a customer calls.

With the integration in place, sales orders, shipping addresses, product detail and customer information arrive in FreightExchange without anyone retyping them. Your team checks the packaging, picks the carrier and service, and books.

What your team works in day to day

Quoting, booking, tracking, labels and manifests all happen in FreightExchange, across every carrier on your account rather than one portal at a time. Commercial invoices and dangerous goods paperwork come out of the same place.

That matters most to the people outside the warehouse. Finance can see what a consignment cost, customer service can see where it is, and neither has to ask. See the full carrier panel and the other plugins and integrations.

FreightExchange Integration

Getting started

NetSuite is not a one click install. It runs through the FreightExchange API, and ERP and API integration is a module you add to a FreightExchange subscription rather than something you switch on yourself.

The practical path is a short scoping conversation. Which order types you ship, which subsidiaries or warehouses they come from, what has to be written back into NetSuite, and which carriers you bring with you. Bring your own carrier accounts and keep the rates you have negotiated, book on our rates, or run both together.

What to sort out first

Two things decide how smooth this goes. The first is whether your product records carry usable dimensions and weights, because a quote is only as good as the packaging behind it. The second is whether you dispatch from more than one location, since each origin has to map to an address FreightExchange knows.

If either is untidy in NetSuite today, tidy it before go live rather than after. It is the difference between rates you can trust and a warehouse correcting every booking by hand.

Complete FreightExchange Integration

Run NetSuite for the business, FreightExchange for the freight.

Orders flow out, consignments come back booked, and every carrier sits behind one screen with one record of what each shipment actually cost.

Frequently asked questions

Will the warehouse staff use Netsuite ERP or FreightExchange?

The default Netsuite ERP integration enables your business to push orders and customer details to FreightExchange without any manual intervention. Anyone can then use FreightExchange to verify the dimensions, select the right carrier/service and generate the label to dispatch shipments. Integrating your complete shipping operations to function fully within Netsuite ERP is something we can do with our APIs as part of a custom setup.

How are shipping documents created and managed?

Shipping documentation like labels, manifests, commercial invoices and dangerous good documentation can all be generated by and sit in FreightExchange. All documents can be pushed from FreightExchange to Netsuite ERP or any other system/printer via an API.

How do shipping rates work with Netsuite ERP?

FreightExchange can push live shipping rates into Netsuite ERP. You can publish rates from our network of carriers or your own contracted carrier rates.

Can FreightExchange be configured to cater our bespoke use case?

One of our differentiators is our modern and open, RESTful API. Using the latest and greatest technology while also being constructed in a framework using REST allows FreightExchange to be a flexible and extensible tool that is highly configurable for Netsuite ERP or any other system that can talk to web services.
